Volunteering and Fundraising
ZOV welcomes volunteers to help with work both in Bulgaria and in the UK. We do not run an office in the UK, and all of our administrative and fundraising work is done by our (unpaid!) committee, working largely from home. We are currently recruiting volunteers in both the UK and Bulgaria to help us with our work. You don't need previous experience of any charity work, and it's a very worthwhile activity. Typically we need volunteers to fundraise for us, either via events or in the street (we do not do 'hard-sell' fundraising, either on the phone or in the street). There's also the possibility that you might visit Bulgaria with ZOV; local volunteers are hard to come by in Bulgaria due to the economic situation, and extra help for our local team there in keeping our projects running is often essential. Such trips are not expensive; living costs in Bulgaria are very low, and air fares are falling all the time.
Unlike fundraising for some major charities, our very low costs - due to having no paid staff in the UK - mean that almost all the money you raise will go directly to our cause. As an official volunteer, you'll also be kept up to date on the latest developments in ZOV's work.
There's no need to become an official volunteer to help; if you're organising a one-off event, in your school, university or workplace, please contact us and we will do everything we can to help. Perhaps you could do a sponsored skydive, bungee jump or run in aid of ZOV? Contact us at fundraising@zovuk.org.uk to get involved.
If you are a student, our sister student organisation, OXAB (Oxford Aid to the Balkans), also organises student volunteer trips from Oxford and various other UK universities to Bulgaria, and other countries in the Balkans.
Membership
You can now join ZOV UK, receiving regular information and updates on our work, for as little as £2/month! Membership fees are payable by monthly standing order. You can download the membership form here.
The form is in Adobe Acrobat format, and can be viewed using the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Most computers have this installed already, but if necessary you can download it for free from www.adobe.com. Once completed, send the form to us at the address at the bottom of this page. For more information, or if your bank cannot take UK standing orders, contact us at members@zovuk.org.uk.
Donations
If you'd like to donate further to ZOV's work, please don't hesitate to contact us at fundraising@zovuk.org.uk. The best way to donate is by standing order, because this gives us a regular, predictable income which we can use to budget for our projects; when you do this you automatically become a ZOV UK member. You can also donate by cheque, making the cheque payable to ZOV UK, and enclosing a copy of the form below. Bank transfer is also possible; please contact us at info@zovuk.org.uk for more information. Your donation, however large or small, is much appreciated.
Click the links below to download our donation forms. We advise that you keep a filled in copy of the form for your records when you make a donation. Please remember to send the standing order form to us at the address at the bottom of this page, rather than directly to your bank. We will organise the rest of the process. The forms are in Adobe Acrobat format, and can be viewed using the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Most computers have this installed already, but if necessary you can download it for free from www.adobe.com.
If you would like to make a material donation to any one of our projects, please don't hesitate to contact us at info@zovuk.org.uk.
